There are some signs of depression that are consistent regardless of the person or stage of depression they are in. These include:
1. Being extremely irritable and having extreme mood swings
2. Being hopeless and pessimistic; Always looking at the bad things that have happened in your life
3. If you experience a loss of energy resulting in extreme fatigue and tiredness
4. If you lose interest in hobbies, looking good and being around friends and family because you feel like you are weighing them down and keeping them from having a good time
5. Feeling sad and upset a lot of the time
6. Having physical pain in one or more parts of your body without any medical cause for them
7. If you begin feeling extremely helpless and start to truly lack self worth
8. In extreme cases a person may experience suicidal thoughts
9. Insomnia
10. Either weight loss or gain that cannot be explained
