Help for PPD

November 30th 2006 17:39
If you are a new mother who thinks she's suffering from PPD then you really should not hesitate to see your doctor. You should not feel as though you're the only woman who's ever gone through this as many new mothers suffer from PPD because of their new responsibility. You should also know that postpartum depression can be harmful to your newborn baby. In fact, some mothers who have suffered with PPD without seeking help have actually killed their newborn baby. This is not said to scare you but to encourage you to seek help from your doctor. They may simply suggest that you go to a therapist so that you have someone to talk to for a while. Of course, receiving active social support from your family, especially your mate, is another great way to cope with PPD. Since newborn babies expect their mothers to show them a lot of care and love it only makes sense that the mother will also need a lot of care and support from those around her.
