Treatment for Depression
October 28th 2006 01:34
Since depression is so common, there are a lot of ways in which it can be treated. There are both medications and natural remedies available to help a person who may be depressed. What treatment is used is based upon an individual basis and how severe a person’s depression is.
There are different types of medications available. These are used to fight the symptoms of depression. There are three categories of medications. These include:
1. Tricyclics (i.e. Norpramin)
2. SSRI (i.e. Prozac)
3. MAOI (i.e. Nardil)
Some people find that St. Johns’ Wort works well for them. This is a natural herb.
Another natural treatment is acupuncture. This also works well for some people.
One of the best ways to fight depression though is to change the way you feel about yourself. This may seem like it would not work but it really does. Looking at life in a positive way and mentally telling yourself to quit sulking and look at the good things in your life can be very helpful.

If you don't mind me asking, is your experience with depression personal or clinical?
