What Guru's Dont Know

It never ceases to amaze me to hear the things that I hear at some of those 12-step meetings. There is such a large population that will have you believe that all of your problems are because of the fact you are an alcoholic,or an addict or both. This school of thought runs rampant in those that have been around the rooms for a number of years. The GURU's as some like to call it.Just because they have stayed away from booze for a while, they are an authority on how to "work the program".This may sound a bit like bashing the 12 step program, however it isn't the program I am bashing,it is some peoples perception of the program. These oldtimers are very angry about the fact that they can no longer drink or drug. For whatever reason(usually in the materialistic realm, maybe the wife was getting alittle pissy about his drinking and threatened to leave and take the house) they have been able to stay away from it.One can easily see that It doesn't take much spiritual progress to stay away from something that can ruin your life.

gurus dont know

It is hard to watch those that are afflicted with depression and or mental illness talk about what they are going through, without these guru's tossing and turning in their seats. They need us to keep our comments on ALCOHOL!! God forbid you should mention anything about depression ,or the "D" word as I like to put it.
They don't want to hear about the phsycho-babble.They will tell you that the reason why your life is messed up is because you drank. The reason you are out of work is because you drank. The reason why your hair is brown is becuase you drank. And the reason why the whole world is the way it is..........is because SOMEWHERE,there is an acoholic!!

Listening to some of them talk of their past brings up alot of that psycho-babble,and it is staring them in the face,it isn't always about the booze or the drugs.
There are some good folks in that program that are sincere and empowering, and actually recovering. It is the ego driven angry clicky types that I need to stay away from.My recovery is more about going to meetings. It is an inside job. This is my life, and I dont need to explain to anyone who I am.Because if I think that I am fooling others,I am.But the most important person I am being dishonest with is myself.
